Tottenham remain interested in Bournemouth star Joshua King
According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing AFC Bournemouth forward Joshua King in the ongoing transfer window.
The 28-year-old Bournemouth star came through the youth ranks at Manchester United, but failed to break into the first-team. After spending time at Blackburn Rovers, he joined the Cherries in 2015 and has excelled with the south coast club.
Since joining Bournemouth, King has scored 50 goals and registered 17 assists in 171 appearances. However, he struggled during the 2019/20 campaign, scoring just six goals, while setting up four more. (h/t Transfermarkt)
In spite of his subpar returns last season, Tottenham have been linked with a move for King this summer. And it is now claimed that the North London giants remain intent on securing the services of the Norwegian. (h/t The Telegraph)
The reason behind Spurs’ continued interest in the 28-year-old forward is that the club can still sign him after the October 5 transfer deadline, as Premier League clubs can still buy from EFL sides for an additional 11 days after the window shuts. (h/t The Telegraph)
In addition, King’s versatility is a major factor in the club’s interest in him. The 28-year-old can play anywhere across the frontline. This would mean, if Tottenham do sign him, the Bournemouth man would not only provide cover for Harry Kane in the No.9 role, but also add cover on the flanks.
It could prove particularly handy now that Son Heung-min has picked up a hamstring injury and could be out for a while.
