Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale sends a message to Jose Mourinho regarding Joe Rodon
According to Wales Online, Gareth Bale believes Joe Rodon is on course to achieve much success at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 23-year-old was signed by the club on the domestic transfer deadline day last month. Having established himself as an excellent defender at the Championship level with Swansea City, Rodon finally made the step up to the top leagues.
Having played alongside him at the international level for Wales, both Gareth Bale and Ben Davies are well aware of the player’s potential. Having broken into the national side, Rodon has so far won 10 caps for his country.
“Signing for Tottenham was a step in the right direction for him and one that I feel like he was ready for.”
Rodon was instrumental in Wales’ 3-1 win over Finland in the Cardiff City stadium. This saw them clinch the top spot in their Nations League group. The result also saw Rob Page’s side extend their unbeaten streak in competitive matches to 11 games.
“We all regard him as a great center-half and we think he’s going to go on to do amazing things.”
Bale, who captained the side, handed over the armband to Rodon when being taken off. The fact he would entrust the defender with it shows the level at which he is rated. Spurs lost a defensive leader in Jan Vertonghen at the end of last season. Hopefully in Rodon, we can develop another.
Taking the chance
Bale believes Rodon has impressed since joining the club. While he is not yet a regular starter for the club, Bale believes the defender will make the most of his opportunities when it comes.
“When he gets his chance in the Tottenham team, I’m sure he’ll take it and do amazingly.”
As of yet, Rodon has made just one appearance for Tottenham. With the season just having started, he could have plenty of opportunities to impress in the coming months.

Rodon was signed for a fee of £11m, which could rise to £15m with add-ons. Given how he has performed for Wales, he is undoubtedly a player of high potential.
If he goes on to achieve it at Spurs, Daniel Levy will have once again concluded a gem of a deal in the transfer window.
