Jamie Carragher issues warning over struggling Tottenham star Gareth Bale
As reported by Football.london, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has urged Tottenham star, Gareth Bale, to step up and deliver after a poor start to the season.
The 31-year-old Welshman returned to Tottenham from Real Madrid in the last summer transfer window. Bale signed on a season-long loan deal, but has struggled to perform at the level expected.
Indeed, Bale has spent most of his time at the club out on the sidelines. He has missed our last two matches against Wolves and Leeds United with a calf issue. The 31-year-old has made just 11 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Now, Carragher has claimed that Bale is yet to prove Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane wrong for having frozen him out in Spain and has urged him to step it up.
“After several years of complaints about unfair treatment from Real Madrid, we are yet to see the evidence that Zinedine Zidane was wrong. They need more from Gareth Bale to think beyond a top-four place. Bale has barely figured since his return and is injured again.”
When Bale returned to Tottenham in the summer, there was a lot of fanfare and the expectations were naturally quite high, despite his recent plight at Real Madrid. But, it is safe to say that things haven’t worked out as expected for either party.

It remains to be seen if Bale is able to step it up when he returns from injury. Given how close things are in the league, we need all our players to perform and cannot be reliant on just Harry Kane and Son Heung-min to carry us through in attack.
