Jose Mourinho disappointed with Tottenham star Sergio Reguilon

As reported by Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has claimed he was left disappointed after Sergio Reguilon and a few other players broke COVID rules on Christmas.

Reguilon, along with Tottenham teammates Erik Lamela and Giovani Lo Celso broke the Government’s COVID regulations by spending Christmas together, along with West Ham United’ Manuel Lanzini.

In a photo which is believed to have been posted by one of the footballer’s friends on Instagram, the four players are pictured in one house with 11 other adults, two children and a baby.  (h/t Daily Mail)

As per the regulations set by the Government last month, people living in Tier 4 regions were prohibited to mingle with anyone outside their household on Christmas. Tottenham issued a statement condemning the players’ actions as soon as the picture came to light. This was followed by Mourinho expressing his displeasure at the situation.

The Portuguese had gifted Reguilon a cooked suckling pig for Christmas thinking that the Spaniard would be alone on the day. But, he was disappointed to learn that it was not the case as the left-back broke regulations to spend the day with teammates.

“I gave him [Reguilon] an amazing gift. A Portuguese piglet which is amazing. I gave him because I was told he would be spending Christmas on his own. He was not alone as you can see. We as a club feel disappointed. We give the players all the education and it was a negative surprise for us.

“I prefer to say disappointed (than angry). We know what we are internally. We don’t need to tell you the consequences, how we approached that negative surprise. I feel disappointed.”
