Tottenham Hotspur want to offer Harry Kane a new contract
A report by Independent states that Tottenham Hotspur have started an initial dialogue with Harry Kane over a new contract at the club.
Spurs are in no imminent danger of losing the forward, who is content at the club as long as they compete for trophies. There is a cordial relationship between manager Jose Mourinho and Kane, and Spurs want to reward it.
This is why Daniel Levy has opened an informal dialogue with the 27-year-old striker over a new contract. Kane already signed a new contract with Spurs in 2018 which is set to expire in 2024.
However, the club wants to keep him content as big European clubs circle around him after a great season so far.
Manchester City have seen Harry Kane as a long-term successor to Sergio Aguero. Paris Saint-Germain, on the other hand, could be driven by former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino to sign the Englishman in case Kylian Mbappe leaves Paris. (h/t Independent)
A priceless player
The contract talks are not in a formal stage yet, but the deal will reportedly increase Kane’s wages beyond £200,000-a-week.
Kane is in sensational form this season. The striker has scored 10 goals in the Premier League while providing 11 assists so far. He was on the scoresheet again as Spurs beat Leeds United 3-0 on Saturday.
It is no secret that Harry Kane is one of the most important players at Spurs right now. Jose Mourinho knows that he has to keep Kane at the club if they want to challenge for trophies.
