Jose Mourinho provides positive Harry Kane injury update

According to Football.london, Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that he expects star striker Harry Kane to be fit and available for selection next week.

The 27-year-old ace goalscorer picked up ankle injuries in our 3-1 defeat to Liverpool last week. This led to him missing our weekend clash against Brighton & Hove Albion. Without Kane, the attacking department struggled to hit the right note.

While it was initially feared that Kane could be out for a significant period of time, Mourinho has now revealed that he expects the England captain to be available as early as next week. So, there is now a good chance that he will feature in our FA Cup game against Everton and the subsequent league match against Manchester City.

“Good progress, he’s happy with the progress and of course we’re happy too. I think it’s not a very optimistic thing to say next week he should be playing, it will be just a consequence of his good evolution.

“So we’re happy. We were scared when it happened but next week we play Everton and City at the weekend. I believe for one of these matches he should be back.”

This is a huge boost for Tottenham as the team looked disjointed in attack without Kane in attack against Brighton. Even though there was plenty of quality out on the field in the form of Son Heung-min, Steven Bergwijn and Gareth Bale, they could not make the kind of impact that was needed.

Kane’s return, to that end, will be a major advantage. The 27-year-old has been prolific form this season. With the race for the top four heating up, having the Englishman back on the pitch as early as next week is very good news for the fans.
