Tottenham confirm 25-man UEFA Europa League squad; no Joe Rodon
According to Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed their 25-man UEFA Europa League squad for the knockout stages with Joe Rodon missing out once again.
Tottenham made it to the knockout phase of the Europa League after having topped Group J that also consisted of Royal Antwerp, LASK and Ludogorets. Jose Mourinho’s have been drawn against Austrian outfit Wolfsberger in the Round of 32 phase which kicks off later this month.
All clubs in the competition must submit a list of 25 A list players to use during their campaign, along with a B list, which is made up of homegrown stars. But for those who make it through to the knockout stage, teams are permitted to make three changes ahead of the Round of 32.
And leading up to it, Spurs have confirmed their 25-man squad for the next stage of the competition. However, the club has refrained from adding any new names to their squad. The only change is that Jack Clarke drops out after having moved to Stoke City on loan last month.
That means, Joe Rodon, who arrived at Tottenham last summer, misses out again. The Welshman had joined the club after the deadline to submit the squad for the group stages, which led to his omission. And Mourinho explained that the club had decided to stick with the squad that got them through the first phase, leading to his exclusion.
“We didn’t. A hard decision but we wanted to show respect for the group. Very hard for the group to cope with one involved to be out. The emotional impact it has less impact on a player who was not part to stay out.”
