Tottenham Hotspur’s four-man shortlist if Jose Mourinho is sacked

According to Betfair (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur may already be preparing for the potential departure of Jose Mourinho with a four-man shortlist of replacements already in place.

Following the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on Thursday night, Mourinho became the second favourite to be the next Premier League manager set for a sack, with odds being slashed by a number of bookmakers.

The loss to Chelsea meant Tottenham have now lost three Premier League matches in a row. Prior to that, the Lilywhites had succumbed to losses against Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion.

During this run the performances have been mundane and lifeless, with there being no clear direction on the pitch. This has seemingly ramped up the pressure on Mourinho, with Tottenham now 14 points behind leaders Manchester City and seven below fourth-placed Liverpool.

And, it is now being claimed that Tottenham have a four-man shortlist ready in case a call on the Portuguese’s future is made imminently. (h/t Football.london)

Leicester City manager boss Brendan Rodgers is the odds-on favourite at 2/1 to replace Mourinho at Tottenham, although the Foxes would be reluctant to lose the Northern Irishman. Furthermore, a large payout sum would be required to sign him midway through the campaign. (h/t Football.london)

RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann is next on the list at 4/1. Former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss, Rafael Benitez, who is currently unattached is 7/1 third favourite, with former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri at 9/1.

Even though Mourinho is under scrutiny, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is expected to give him time to turn things around at the club. However, if the performances and results don’t improve, things might change quite quickly.
