Tottenham Team News: Bale continues to struggle as Man City clash looms large

As Tottenham get ready to face a hot Man City, let’s take a look at the team news. Spurs are fresh off the back of an FA Cup exit at the hands of Everton while Manchester City are firing on all cylinders. Pressure will be mounting on the Spurs manager as he aims to push his side out of this rut. (h/t Football.london).

Sergio Reguilon still faces more time on the sidelines

The left-back will continue his spell on the sidelines as he was ruled out for 2-3 weeks (h/t Evening Standard). The City game could be a bit too soon for him to return to action. Ben Davies is likely to deputize in his absence.

Gareth Bale’s injury struggles continue

On being quizzed about Gareth Bale, Mourinho was quoted as saying:

“Well I think it’s better for me to say. So we played against West Bromwich on the Sunday and he didn’t play. On Monday I was a little bit surprised by him wanting to have a scan because he was not comfortable with some muscular area.

“So he didn’t train on Monday and then on Tuesday he trained with the team but I was informed that his desire would be to work with the sports science for a couple of days to strengthen that area where he’s not feeling comfortable.”

That should point to the fact that the Welshman will likely not be a part of the Tottenham team that squares off against Man City at the weekend. Injury woes continue for the on-loan Real Madrid star.

Giovani Lo Celso could be out for a while

The playmaker is now close to two months without action as he last played against Leicester in December. Mourinho has gone out and said that it could be ‘a couple more weeks’.
