Transfer News: Tottenham, Man United monitoring misfiring Lazio star Vedat Muriqi

According to transfer news from Calciomercato (h/t La Lazio Siamo Noi), Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on the situation of Kosovan striker Vedat Muriqi at Serie A outfit SS Lazio.

The 26-year-old centre-forward joined Lazio from Turkish outfit Fenerbahce last summer following a prolific 2019/20 campaign. However, since moving to Italy, Muriqi has struggled to repeat those exploits thus far.

In 24 games across all competitions, Muriqi has managed just 2 goals and an assist so far. While he has had difficulties with regard to injuries and coronavirus, the Kosovan international hasn’t made the desired impact at Lazio, who will now assess his future at the club once the season is out of the way.

Alerted by this news are Tottenham Hotspur, who are monitoring Muriqi with a view of a transfer in the summer, along with fellow Premier League club Manchester United and Burnley.

Tottenham Hotspur had been linked with Muriqi last summer as well, with reports going as far as claiming that the club had launched a bid for the Kosovan international. However, that never came to be as Spurs instead settled in on Carlos Vinicius.

The Brazilian arrived at the club on loan from Portuguese outfit SL Benfica. However, he hasn’t been able to become a regular fixture in the side and has been sparingly used by Jose Mourinho in the Premier League. While Spurs have the option of making his transfer permanent, that might not happen.

So, Tottenham could be in need for a new striker in the summer once again, with Muriqi possibly back on their radars. However, given how the Kosovan has struggled in Serie A, a move for him might not be the most ideal of the moves.
