Transfer News: Tottenham close to signing Joachim Andersen
According to transfer news from Express, Tottenham are close to signing Joachim Andersen. Fulham’s relegation on Monday meant that Andersen is likely to return to Lyon and then move back to the Premier League with another club.
The 24-year-old defender spent the early parts of his career in his homeland, Denmark, before making the switch to the Netherlands in 2013, where he joined Twente. Four years later, he made the jump to Sampdoria before signing for Olympique Lyon in 2019.
After a season in France, Andersen arrived at Fulham this past summer on a season-long loan deal, with the Cottagers having no option to make the transfer permanent. The 24-year-old missed a few games early in the season due to injury but since returning to full fitness he has been a mainstay at the back for Scott Parker’s side.
In fact, Andersen has gone on to captain Fulham in more than half of their Premier League games this term, despite being on loan and in his first season in England. And, he has played an integral role in their newfound defensive solidity that is aiding them in their fight for survival.
It was earlier revealed by Express that Spurs have held a meeting with Andersen’s representatives. A possibility of a summer transfer has been discussed in the same and with Fulham’s relegation confirmed, Spurs have a clear path to sign the player once he returns to Lyon.

With the likes of Alderweireld and Sanchez looking wobbly in recent weeks, adding a defender of Andersen’s capacity will no doubt appeal to the club. He is entering his prime years and already has Premier League experience.
