Hugo Lloris rejects contract offer from Tottenham Hotspur
According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris has rejected a new contract offer from the club as he enters the final year of his deal.
Lloris has been with Tottenham Hotspur since the summer of 2012, when he arrived from Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyon. Over the course of his nine-year stint in north London, the goalkeeper has grown into a club icon and was one of the best in the league during his peak.
However, over the past couple of seasons, Lloris has started to show signs of age catching up with him. Even though there have been some fine performances between the sticks, there also have been occasions when he has made grievous errors that hurt the team.
Heading into the summer transfer window, Lloris will be entering the final year of his contract with Tottenham. And, now it is being claimed that the 34-year-old shot-stopper has already turned down an offer of an extension made by the club. (h/t The Sun)
This is in complete contrast to a recent report from Football Insider that claimed that Lloris and Daniel Levy had held talks with the Frenchman then deciding to commit his future to the club beyond the current season.
Perhaps, this development would also explain the sudden interest that Tottenham are showing in bolstering the goalkeeping department, having been linked with a move for Manchester United’s Dean Henderson as well as Trabzonspor custodian and captain, Ugurcan Cakir.
