Transfer News: Tottenham open talks with Lyon for Joachim Andersen
According to transfer news from BT (h/t Express), Tottenham have opened concrete talks with French club Olympique Lyon for the signing of defender Joachim Andersen.
Andersen spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan in the Premier League with Fulham and made quite the impression. Indeed, the Danish centre-back was one of the Cottagers’ most impressive performers and stood out tall even though the campaign ended in relegation for them.
Andersen’s displays with Fulham were enough to convince Tottenham to register an interest in the central defender, who turned 25 earlier this week. Spurs are in need of defensive reinforcements heading into the next season as Toby Alderweireld enters the final phase of his career while Eric Dier endured an up and down campaign last time out.
Davinson Sanchez, for all the promise he shows, remains inconsistent and, as a result, unreliable. With Joe Rodon still learning his trade in the top-flight, a move for a new centre-back makes a lot of sense for Tottenham.
And, it seems like the club have narrowed down on Andersen as the preferred target and have taken the first steps towards securing his transfer. Indeed, the report states that north Londoners have held concrete talks with Lyon over the possibility of a summer switch for the Danish defender. (h/t Express)

The report even goes as far as adding that a move to Tottenham is inching closer and closer for Andersen as Lyon are intent on cashing in on the player this summer. The prospect of a return to Fulham has also been ruled out following their relegation to the Championship, boosting Spurs’ chances of landing the 25-year-old.
Things seem to be getting a move on at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a new manager in Antonio Conte reportedly close to be being appointed and a first signing also in sights.
