Transfer News: Liverpool and AC Milan eye Tottenham Hotspur target Mikkel Damsgaard

According to Tuttosport via MilanNews.it (h/t The Express), AC Milan are prepared to offer Andrea Conti along with sizeable cash for Tottenham Hotspur target and Sampdoria starlet Mikkel Damsgaard.

The report mentions that Liverpool are also looking at the versatile Danish forward as a replacement for the outgoing Georginio Wijnaldum. The Dutchman left as a free agent and has joined PSG, leaving Jurgen Klopp looking for a replacement.

Damsgaard’s versatility is terrific. Liverpool could be interested in him because it would be like killing two birds with one stone. Damsgaard can offer good backup to their entire frontline and can also play in central midfield.

But that is something Spurs should also be vying for. With Gareth Bale’s loan spell coming to an end, it could be time to play safe and sign a player like Damsgaard.

Spurs face Milan, LFC battle

He is already impressing for Denmark at UEFA Euros 2020 where he is shining on the left flank. The 20-year-old’s stock could rise with time and Spurs would be wise to go after the youngster.

At his age, they would be getting in a long-term asset who can already start competing for starts. But the competition from Milan and Liverpool means Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy should act quick if they are to bring the Dane to N17.

There is ‘talk’ of a £45million price tag for Damsgaard, and Paratici is believed to have recommended the player to Spurs after being impressed by his performances in Serie A. (h/t The Express)

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Spurs need a versatile player like the Sampdoria man who can cover multiple areas on the field and can be moulded into a future starter. But it remains to be seen if Spurs can outmuscle the other clubs interested in him, because there may be no shortage of that after the season he’s just had.
