Tottenham Hotspur fans ecstatic as two goals by Harry Kane helps England beat Ukraine in Euros quarter-final
Tottenham Hotspur and England hitman Harry Kane scored two goals against Ukraine in the quarter-final of the 2020 UEFA European Championship. He started the tournament slowly in the group stage, but has come into his own when it matters the most.
England, with the help of Kane and Sterling, saw off Germany in the last-16. And the pair combined to open the scoring within 4 minutes against Ukraine.
A slick pass by the Manchester City winger encouraged the 27-year-old striker to make a run in behind the defence and finish coolly. Harry Maguire then doubled their lead just a minute into the second half before Kane scored his second of the game in the 50th minute.
Jordan Henderson came on and wrapped up the 4-0 scoreline via a terrific header in the 63rd minute, sealing the Three Lions’ place in the semi-final. They are now scheduled to face Denmark, who were equally impressive in their win against the Czech Republic.
Kane puts on a masterclass
While the scoreline was not as wide, the gap in quality showed as the Danes rushed into a 2-0 lead. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg played a vital role in their midfield as they held on for the win despite a 5th goal of the tournament from Patrik Schick.
England and Denmark’s meeting in the semi-final this Wednesday confirms that at least one Spurs player will make the final of the Euros.
The Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t The Express] link Kane with a move to Manchester City, who are willing to pay £100million for the player.
But everything took a backseat when England’s No.9 took the field for his country on Saturday, putting on a performance for the ages. Kane, at 9 goals, is now level with Alan Shearer for most goals for England in a major tournament, just one behind leader, Gary Lineker.
