Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur handed advantage by RB Leipzig in Maxence Lacroix pursuit
According to a report by German outlet Sport Bild via Spurs-Web (h/t football.london), RB Leipzig have been ‘priced out’ of a move for Tottenham Hotspur target Maxence Lacroix.
The French defender has been on the radar of Spurs and Leipzig recently. However, the German side do not seem willing to meet Wolfsburg’s asking price for the 21-year-old.
A recent report by Foot Mercato via The Express (h/t Football.london) mentioned that Wolfsburg turned down a £15.45million offer for Lacroix from Leipzig and demanded £17.16million.
This comes as a good piece of news for Spurs who are in the market for a new central defender. Along with Lacroix, Football.london mentions that Joachim Andersen of Olympique Lyonnaise is also on the club’s radar.
Spurs get helping hand for Lacroix
The Danish centre-back is four years older than the Frenchman. However, Andersen can boast of Premier League experience and only recently returned from a loan spell in the Premier League at Fulham.
Spurs should consider strengthening at the back as they move into the next season. Son Heung-min and Harry Kane did their job in attack last season, and a strengthened defence on top of that can take this Spurs team to a new level.
Andersen and Lacroix are both reasonable targets with regards to their age and status as starting centre-backs in two top leagues. But it still remains to be seen if either of the two join up with Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad at N17.
