Tottenham Hotspur Stadium set to host another showpiece occasion in Betfred Challenge Cup Final

The official club website has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will host the final of the Betfred Challenge Cup – the showpiece occasion in the English Rugby League.

The event takes place on May 28, 2022, and marks the 125th anniversary of the inaugural final that took place in 1897. This is another feather added to the new stadium’s cap considering this much-awaited final has been held at the iconic Wembley Stadium since 1929.

The tickets are available to purchase already, with an early bird offer that knocks £5 off the price tag. Spurs’ stadium, which saw its first competitive football match more than two years ago, is a multi-purpose stadium that is already hosting another big, non-footballing event this year.

Another big event lined up

The stadium was also scheduled to host The Ashes rugby league, last November. But the Covid-19 pandemic prevented England and Australia from going head-to-head at the arena.

Speaking after the Betfred Challenge Cup Final was confirmed to be held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Chief Executive of the Rugby Football League, Ralph Rimmer, urged Spurs fans to come and watch the event.

“We also hope that Spurs fans will join us to see a different sport played at their fabulous ground – Rugby League is a fast, tough and spectacular sport, and the Challenge Cup Final is famous for its family-friendly atmosphere at Wembley, which we’re looking forward to bringing to a new stadium in London.”

Daniel Levy was also proud of the fact that the stadium is hosting another massive sporting event, and put his thoughts into words as eloquently as ever.
