Tottenham Hotspur receive blow over Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso
According to Football.london, Tottenham could be without Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso for up to four matches after the international break. The Argentine duo is not going to be let go earlier from their WC Qualifiers and the subsequent quarantine could potentially rule them out for at least two to four games.
With the international break going on, a lot of our stars are in action for their national sides, primarily playing in the WC Qualifiers. There was a problem with Premier League clubs refusing to release their South American players as their games would be played on the UK’s red list countries.
That meant any player returning from those countries would have to quarantine for 10 days, thus, ruling them out of the matches during that time. Spurs initially allowed their Argentine duo of Romero and Lo Celso to go for those games with a supposed agreement that they would return after playing two of the three qualifiers which would have only ruled them out against Crystal Palace.
However, Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni has opted to play them in all three games meaning that the subsequent quarantine would rule the duo out for two or potentially four games.
“We gave the list for the three games and there are no doubts about that. The players are here to play all three games. We never had a refusal from the clubs. We spoke and reached a conclusion that they had to come.”

Provided they return on the 10th or 11th of September after the game against Bolivia, they will miss the clashes against Crystal Palace, Chelsea and potentially Wolves. There is also the Conference League game against Rennes that would be missed. This will not help Spurs at all as the duo need to play more minutes for the club. However, not a lot can be done at this point.
