Manchester City tipped to return for Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane
In an interview with Football Transfer Tavern (h/t Express), Carlton Palmer has tipped Manchester City to return for Harry Kane. The former England midfielder was of the opinion that the Tottenham star would cost £200 million but City would go after him regardless.
It was probably the saga of the summer but everything remained as is. Harry Kane wanted to leave Tottenham this summer and went on to express that quite clearly. The striker was believed to be unhappy that Spurs and Daniel Levy were not honouring the ‘gentleman’s agreement’ they had. Manchester City emerged as the primary name to chase him.
It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I've had in the last few weeks. 👏⚽

However, City huffed and puffed with offers of £128million but Spurs remained firm. They wanted £150million and were not going to sell for less than that. It was clear the saga had reached its end and Kane too went on to commit his future to the club. That left City in a position of not being able to sign a replacement for Sergio Aguero.
Now, it’s unclear as to whether City return for him next season or in January. However, former Premier League ace Carlton Palmer believes that they will indeed return for the Spurs talisman.
“He’s going to cost you upwards of £200 million, in the deal, and he’s coming on for 29. I think that’s a lot of money to pay for a 29-year-old but if he delivers you the Champions League then fine. But if you can get Haaland in for £65 million, and then you put his salary on top, then you’re looking at half that deal and he’s a lot younger so there’s your business. We’ll have to see. I think they’ll still go for Harry Kane and they’ll try to bring him in during the next transfer window, for sure.”

Even if City return for Kane in January as Palmer opined, Spurs should not give in considering it would be in the middle of a season. The player has committed his future to the club for the foreseeable future and it’s hard to think that he will leave N17 so abruptly.
