Transfer News: Tottenham interested in signing Jurrien Timber
According to transfer news from 90min (h/t Football.london), Tottenham are interested in signing Jurrien Timber. The Ajax prodigy is being monitored after his breakthrough for club and country. However, Spurs will face competition from Chelsea for Timber.
A youth product of Feyenoord, Timber moved to Ajax in 2014 to continue his development. Over the next few seasons, he would go on to feature for the youth sides, climbing his way up the ladder. The defender was handed his debut for the senior side back in March 2020 against Heerenveen.
However, it would take him more than a year to net his first goal for the Dutch giants. Regardless, over the last season, he went on to break into the first team. He made 33 appearances for Ajax last season. That was enough to hand him a spot in the Netherlands squad for the Euros where he played three games.
Versatile to play in all defensive positions, he is predominantly used as a central defender and right-back. Hence, it was not surprising to see Spurs taking an interest in the Dutchman. Despite being just 20, he has nailed down a place in Ajax’s side. Spurs will have some competition though as Chelsea are also said to be after him.
