Gary Neville backs Tottenham to be in the top four race
Speaking to LADbible TV (h/t Football.london), Gary Neville has backed Tottenham to be among the sides in the race for the top four. The Premier League legend backed Liverpool, both Manchester clubs, Chelsea, Leicester and Spurs to be in contention for the Champions League places.
Last season saw Spurs finish 7th – the worst final position for the club in the last 12 years. It also meant Spurs missing out on the Champions League for the second time after entering the competition four consecutive times since 2016.
It turned real sour real quick last season with the club topping the table in December, sacking Mourinho in April and Ryan Mason lumbering the side to a Conference League spot. Efforts have been made to resurrect the side. Fabio Paratici has come in, Nuno Espirito Santo was appointed and a whole host of player transfers were overseen.
The result? Spurs won all three of their opening league games before a shock loss to Crystal Palace. While the season is still in its infancy, there’s a good chance Spurs produce a better finish this season. Former England defender Gary Neville was of the opinion that Spurs will be in the running for the top four places along with some of the usual names.
“Liverpool are in there. United are in there. City are in there. Chelsea are in there. Tottenham and Leicester in the last few years, I would say. Arsenal fans will probably now quote some stats now. They think I hate them anyway. They drain me. Start winning, and I will start praising you again.”

Spurs have had a good start and now it is about maintaining the momentum. Tougher matches will be there, losses will also be there but there needs to be the belief that they can bounce back. It promises to be an intriguing season for the club and their supporters as the climb back up begins.
