Dusan Vlahovic had Tottenham interest but chose Fiorentina stay in the summer
Speaking in an interview (h/t football.london) Dusan Vlahovic clarified that it was his own decision to stay at Fiorentina in the summer, amid transfer interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Serbian striker was in fine form during the 2020/21 season and that led to interest from teams such as Spurs, Atletico Madrid, and Manchester City. But no move could materialize as Harry Kane chose to stay at the club beyond deadline day.
Since then, the forward has insisted that it was his decision to stay at La Viola for this season. Whether that proves to be the right decision for him personally remains to be seen.
“I said many times that I decided to stay in Florence, nobody else had to decide for me. When the coach arrived, and the squad we put together, it’s good. At the end of the season, we will see if it proved to be the right decision.”
Vlahovic to extend Fiorentina contract?
He doesn’t seem to have any regrets as of now. Vlahovic claims that he followed his heart and that the best is yet to come from him.
“But I followed my heart. I am young, my moment will come and I just need to continue working like this.”
The former Partizan Belgrade starlet’s contract at Fiorentina expires in the summer of 2023. However, the report mentions that talks have begun regarding an extension at the club.

Spurs currently have Harry Kane with them while Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura can deputize as centre-forwards as well. But signing a talented youngster like Vlahovic won’t hurt their chances at titles and would also future-proof the frontline.
