Tottenham boss Nuno calls for patience with Tanguy Ndombele
Speaking to the media (h/t Independent), Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo has called for patience with midfielder Tanguy Ndombele ahead of the game against Chelsea.
It has been yet another season filled with frustration for Ndombele as he has found himself out of favour under new manager Nuno, having suffered a similar situation under previous boss, Jose Mourinho.
Indeed, the Frenchman, who arrived at Tottenham for a club-record transfer in 2019, was hardly utilised in pre-season, while he made his first appearance of the season across all competitions in the recent 2-2 draw against Rennes in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
While it seemed like he was done at Tottenham in the initial stages, Nuno has shown that he is willing to reintegrate him back into the squad. However, the Portuguese tactician has called for patience with the France international considering how little he has played so far.
“It was the first game Tanguy was involved in since the beginning of the season. We had all the pre-season and we are already playing Premier League and European competition and it was Tanguy’s first game so let’s be patient.”
Two years into his stint and Ndombele is still yet to fulfil the immense potential that he showed during his Olympique Lyon days. But given how Tottenham have lacked that bit of creativity in their attacking play, he can be the man to address that problem.

Ndombele’s quality is not a matter of doubt, but the midfielder has found it difficult to adapt at Tottenham, with the changes of managers not helping his cause either. With the door now seemingly open under Nuno, he must look to make the most of his chances.
