Tottenham trio Romero, Lo Celso and Sanchez in contention for Chelsea clash
Speaking to the media ahead of their clash against Chelsea on Sunday (h/t Evening Standard), Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo has claimed that the South American trio of Cristian Romero, Giovani Lo Celso and Davinson Sanchez could be in contention.
The trio have been quarantining in Croatia after having travelled to South America for the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers earlier this month, given the rules in place in England, which would have meant they would have had to spend ten days in a hotel.
However, having been set up in Croatia, Romero, Lo Celso and Sanchez have been training with a member of Spurs’ staff and are expected to be back in the country today, i.e., Saturday and based on their assessment can be considered for the Chelsea clash, Tottenham boss Nuno has now confirmed.
“They arrive Saturday and they will have a training session in the afternoon. “[We have to see] if they are available and fit. They are working hard in Croatia with the sports science [staff member], it’s not the same but due to circumstances we have to assess them properly.
“If we consider they will be options then we must consider them in this moment. Of course we anticipate they will be able to join all the group together in the afternoon. We must understand what happened [with them] due to restrictions but for us as a group it’s been hard. It requires adaptation but hopefully they return Saturday and we can look forward normally.”

Tottenham, however, will continue to be without Eric Dier for the Chelsea clash while Son Heung-min, Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura are also doubts. In addition, Japhet Tanganga will also miss out due to suspension, giving Nuno a major headache with regard to the team selection.
