Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust calls for urgent meeting to discuss club’s future after devastating derby loss
In an official statement (h/t The Guardian), the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust has called for a meeting with the Spurs board to discuss the short and long-term strategies for the club.
Spurs appointed Nuno Espirito Santo this summer after a long search for Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor that began in April when Daniel Levy sacked the former Real Madrid and Manchester United manager.
Ryan Mason was the club’s interim manager before ex-Wolves boss, Nuno, took over the helm. After a staggering start to the season with three 1-0 wins on the trot and a Manager of the Month trophy in the kitty, Nuno was slowly winning over Spurs fans.
But since then, the club has seemingly fallen apart. After the international break earlier this month, the club has lost all three Premier League games. The most recent loss to Arsenal in the North London derby was perhaps the most embarrassing.
Time for an explanation
And it may have acted as the trigger to force the Tottenham Supporters’ Trust into demanding a meeting with the club. An excerpt from their official statement read:
“Over the past few weeks, we’ve been contacted by an increasing number of trust members and the wider fan base who are extremely concerned about the current direction of THFC. We have asked for a meeting with the club’s executive board to discuss both the short- and long-term strategic vision for the football club.”
The fans plan to understand the decision-making process behind the club’s actions. Daniel Levy, followed by Fabio Paratici, are the most visible power-wielding figures at the club at the moment in that regard.
“This (potential) meeting, therefore, is an opportunity for the decision makers at THFC to explain their plans to supporters. This explanation should include plans for this season and beyond, an explanation of how success will be measured and how the club’s DNA will be regained.”

The fans are well within their rights to demand an explanation of where the club is headed and what they can expect in the future. Three defeats in a row, however, isn’t the end of the world and a little patience could be practised here.
