As per the club’s official Twitter account, Tottenham Hotspur succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to London rivals West Ham United in what was a grim day for Nuno Espirito Santo.

The North London club were just not good enough on the day as they were lacklustre performances across the pitch and in every area. Harry Kane, who had scored his first league goal of the season against Newcastle United last weekend, was thought to kick off from here and go on a scoring spree.

However, in a complete turnaround, the Englishman looked off-the-paces and was poor in his hold-up play and picking out the passes. His biggest blunder of the day, however, was not even moving while marking Michail Antonio as the Jamaican held out a leg to slot the ball into the net from a corner in the second half.

Lucas Moura was out of ideas while Son Heung-min ran the hard yards but could not conjure anything meaningful. Cristian Romero looked poor defensively as he was often shrugged off by Antonio multiple times. Tanguy Ndombele did what he could, but it was just not creative enough or threatening enough to the Hammers.

Oliver Skipp and Pierre Emile Hojbjerg were dominated in the centre of the pitch. Late cameos by Bryan Gil, Giovani Lo Celso, and Steven Bergwijn also did not amount to anything. The only player worthy of any praise was captain Hugo Lloris, who was sensational in goal yet again.

However, this defeat means that Nuno Espirito Santo has failed to pick points in any London derby this season, with West Ham becoming the fourth team from the city to pick up points against Spurs.
