Gary Lineker criticises former club Tottenham Hotspur following Nuno Espirito Santo sacking
According to Football.London, Gary Lineker has said that Tottenham Hotspur are in a bit of a mess following the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo. He was dismissed after just four months in the job.
Lineker is one of the finest strikers of his generation and made 138 appearances for the club while netting 80 goals during that period. He also ranks third in England’s all-time scorers, etching his name into the history books.
Speculation surrounding Santo’s future were doing the rounds following the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend. It was claimed that the Spurs board were looking at options to replace him with someone they consider reliable.
The speculation hit fever point earlier on Monday when Nuno’s departure was confirmed. Linekar has now given his opinion on the situation by tweeting on his social media handle. The tweet read:
“Nuno has been fired. Spurs are something of a shambles at present.”
The Portuguese tactician had a great start to his campaign, leading Spurs to three wins in his first three games in the league. He was named the Manager of the Month for August but things went downhill since.
Antonio Conte seems to be the frontrunner at the moment as Fabrizio Romano has said that talks are in the final stages. If finalised, Daniel Levy would be getting someone who is a legend in the making.

Daniel Levy needs to stick with someone who can help Tottenham build a long term vision. The lack of silverware coupled with the lack of stability hampers the squad as well as creates tension among the fans. Conte could offer a genuine chance to challenge for titles if he is properly backed.
But it remains to be seen if the Italian ends up at the London club as Tottenham often have the habit of shooting themselves in their foot.
