Tottenham Hotspur are not interested in Gareth Bale at the moment
According to Football. London, the rumours linking Gareth Bale to Tottenham Hotspur are not true.
The 32-year-old Welsh international made a name for himself in his first stint with the Lilywhites. He has become somewhat of a cult figure at N-17 for his heroics in the last decade. Bale did make his way to Spurs once again but only managed to score 16 goals across all competitions in his second stint with the North London clubs.
OkDiaro chief Eduardo Inda recently claimed in a conversation with El Chiringuito (h/t Express), that Antonio Conte is interested in signing the Real Madrid forward. He also suggested that the Italian manager was averse to singing former Chelsea star Eden Hazard.
Football.London now suggests that there is very little backing to these rumours and the North Londoners wouldn’t be looking at the Wesh international as a priority right now. Bale established himself as one of the best attackers in the earlier part of the decade.
He went on to score 72 goals and provide 61 assists in 237 matches across all competitions for Tottenham Hotspur till now. He dazzled through players and defences with his quick feet and mercurial pace and made the switch to Real Madrid in a deal worth £85.3million which made him the most expensive footballer at the time.
Bale enjoyed a fruitful time with Los Blancos as he has scored 106 goals and provided 68 assists in 254 matches across all competitions with the Spanish club. The 32-year-old has struggled to maintain his place in the starting squad for Madrid in the last couple of seasons and injury woes have further hindered his time on the pitch.
When asked about whether Conte had any specific players in mind, Fabio Paratici replied with a calm reassuring presence:
“Not at all, because we trust a lot in our players. We are focused to be better, like a club, like a team.”
Spurs will most likely take on a more intensive attacking style under the Italian manager. That will demand high levels of fitness from the core members of the squad. At 32-year-old, Bale isn’t as fit as he was at one point of time in his career.
