Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte feels Harry Winks or Tanguy Ndombele could replace Oliver Skipp vs Leeds United
In his pre-match press conference ahead of the Leeds United fixture (h/t Football.London) Antonio Conte reveals that Harry Winks or Tanguy Ndombele could replace the suspended Tottenham Hotspur youngster Oliver Skipp.
The 21-year-old has impressed in the first team set up this season. The youngster was out on loan to Norwich City last campaign and it seems to have done him a world of good. The midfielder has been a solid figure at the back until now but is unfortunately out due to suspension.
Skipp already notched up five yellow cards in the PL this season which means he won’t be able to take part in the fixture against Leeds. Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg also had to be substituted after sustaining a knock in Tottenham’s last Premier League match against Everton. He did not take part in Denmark’s World Cup qualifiers during the international break either.
Conte went on to assess his option in the middle of the park that could be used as suitable replacements:
“Also we have to see, I hope today to have Hojbjerg with the team, because he also was injured in the last week and didn’t work. Then there is one between Winky and Tanguy Ndombele. (Laughs) Not many chances but we have to go.”
Harry Winks has been somewhat of a fringe player in the last couple of seasons and this could be the perfect opportunity to prove his worth to the team. The midfielder had a great start to his career at Spur but has faded away into oblivion at times since then.
Tanguy Ndombele on the other hand has shown his abilities in parts and pieces but has hugely struggled to maintain that consistency with the North London club. This could also be an invaluable opportunity for the Frenchman to showcase his talent to the new manager.
