Tottenham Hotspur could make a swoop for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford

According to The Telegraph (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte is keen on getting Jordan Pickford as a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris.

The French international has been an integral part of the Lilwyhites for a while and is also one of the most experienced players in the squad. While the former Olympique Lyon keeper can still produce some good performance, at 34 the North London club could be looking to future-proof the position between the sticks.

Lloris has made 385 appearances for Spurs across all competitions to date. He has been a reliable asset on several occasions but it seems as though Antonio Conte may be looking to replace him with a much younger option.

Pickford has been capped at the International level and is a key part of the Toffees. He has made 172 appearances across all competitions with the Merseyside team to date. He has been a pivotal part between the sticks and Everton would not want to let him go that easily.

The 34-year-old French goalkeeper’s contract with the North London club ends in the summer of 2022. Spurs are yet to offer Lloris a new contact and are being linked to several replacements in that position.

Pickford signed a new contract six-year contract with the Toffees back in 2018 which means that the club may be looking for a hefty price to let go of their star keeper. The English international had a great Euro 2020.

The 27-year-old English keeper is said to be held in high regard by Conte. While Pierluigi Gollini was brought to Spurs recently as the backup keeper, the Italian hasn’t featured much in the first-team setup except in domestic competitions.
