Marcelo Bielsa gives his honest assessment of current Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte ahead of their Premier League fixture
In the pre-match presentation via Leeds Live (h/t Football.London), Marcelo Bielsa has praised current Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte for his achievements and footballing philosophy.
The Leeds United manager has been dubbed as ‘El Loco’ due to his immense focus on intensity and tactics to decimate the opposition. Antonio Conte is also known to have a very attacking and intense style of play that demands a lot from his oppositions.
Both the coaches are known to drill their players hard in training so that they can produce better results on the pitch. The Whites have struggled to reproduce their form from last season due to the absence of key players like Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling.
The North London club will themselves have to play without key defender Cristian Romero. Giovani Lo Celso is another player who may be unavailable for the Premier League clash against the Peacocks.
The 66-year-old manager spoke highly of the former Inter Milan manager. He also went on to praise Conte for his achievements across the globe:
“He’s a genuine representative in his country of managers. He has triumphed in every team he has managed. A reference in world football, not only in the league he participates in. He’s a coach who gets very high performances from his players. The word innovator is to produce aesthetic things from your team. The way of playing and the style of play. In that sense, it’s hard to create things that haven’t been seen before.”
The 52-year-old Italian manager still has a long way to go in trying to cement his footballing philosophy in the North London club. Conte did not have the luxury of a pre-season with this team and would be looking to assess his options at N-17.
The former Chelsea manager took over after Tottenham Hotspur sacked Nuno Espirito Santo who had a rocky start to life at N-17. The Portuguese coach had a more defensive approach as Spurs found it difficult to break down teams under the former Wolves manager.
