Transfer News: Newcastle United tipped to bid for Tottenham Hotspur target and Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic
According to The Sun (h/t The Shields Gazette), Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Dusan Vlahovic is being pursued by Newcastle United.
The Magpies are currently struggling to get out of the relegation zone in the Premier League. They have found it difficult to find favourable results but there seems to be an air of excitement at St James’ Park after the arrival of the new owners.
The Tyneside-based club is in a dire situation and would be looking to make some major investment in the club in the January transfer window. It is now being believed that the Toons will be looking to bid for the £70million-rated Vlahovic.
The 21-year-old striker has been on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur for a while now. The young striker could help future proof the attacking department at N-17. His arrival could also help spark competition for the role up front as well as provide a suitable backup should Harry Kane not be available due to any circumstances.
The Lilywhites would be looking to bring in young attackers to help bolster their clinical threat in front of goal. Vlahovic has been a revelation and is making quite the name for himself in Serie A.
The youngster has continued his fine form and has already scored 12 goals and provided two assists in 14 matches across all competitions for Fiorentina this season. The Serie A striker could be a great long-term asset for the North Londoners.
It is believed that Juventus and Manchester City are also interested in signing the Serbian striker. With the competition heating up for the youngster, Fabio Paratici and Tottenham Hotspur may have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to bring Vlahovic to N-17.
Paratici’s contacts and network in the Italian league could be of great value here. The opportunity to work with a world-renowned manager like Antonio Conte could also be an added advantage in the situation.
