Brighton suffer injury crisis ahead of the clash against Tottenham Hotspur in Premier League

According to The Athletic (Subscription Required), Tottenham Hotspur will receive a massive boost as Brighton and Hove Albion have suffered an injury crisis ahead of the upcoming Premier League clash. The latter is also affected by suspension coming into the match, which adds to their plight.

Brighton have done a great job under Graham Potter, who has garnered praise for what he has done with this Seagulls squad. They are currently in ninth with 20 points from 15 games, having played one game more than us. However, they should not get written off despite their situation.

Captain Lewis Dunk is expected to be out for the year due to a knee injury which would be a big blow to an injury-hit side. Leandro Trossard was carried away on a stretcher, having suffered an elbow issue against Southampton. Shane Duffy will also be on the stands due to being suspended.

Lallana could be out of contention against Tottenham.

Adam Brewster and Jeremy Sarmiento will also be on the sidelines where the latter is facing three months out of action with a hamstring surgery soon to follow. Former Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana could not complete the match against West Ham United and was taken off subsequently.

Boost of luck?

While we should always focus on ourselves rather than receiving boosts from our opponents, the circumstances surrounding this fixture asks for all the benefits we can get. The games come and go in quick succession in the coming months, and we would be facing Potter’s side after what could be a tough match against Stade Rennes.

We would need to put in all our efforts against the Ligue 1 side to ensure we qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League knockout rounds. With the need to match the result of Vitesse Arnhem, we need to put in our best showing to ensure we have the maximum chance of success.

As there is not much gap between the two matches that will take place, we would want to take all the advantages that we can receive ahead of Sunday’s clash. But at the same time, we should be wary of their quality and how good they can be despite the players missing in action.

It could also be a statement to show that we have improved under Antonio Conte. Spurs have racked up enough points over the past few fixtures with noticeable improvements in terms of performance. We would also need all the momentum we can get before we face Liverpool on 19 December.

With the game being at the Amex Stadium, we would want to avoid a repeat of last season’s result when a Trossard goal was all it took to beat us on the day. But the Belgian forward is a big doubt coming into this game while we are also no longer managed by Jose Mourinho.
