Tottenham Hotspur News: New rules for fans attending Premier League games after Covid Plan B measures got passed
According to LeicestershireLive, fans attending Premier League games, including Tottenham Hotspur supporters, have to abide by new rules following the passing of Covid Plan B measures by the UK government. It came into effect following the Commons vote on Tuesday evening.
Attendees will now have to show proof for the complete Covid-19 vaccination or a recent negative lateral flow test to attend sporting events with crowds of more than 10,000 people in England. As a result, all Premier League games will fall under this category, causing a need for the fans to possess evidence from the next matchday.
Stricter measures could get implemented if the Covid situation does get worse moving forward. Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston conveyed that the new guidelines are appropriate for the current outbreak that the nation is going through at the moment.
Stricter measures could include the capacity of the stadium getting reduced in case the situation gets worse. Players and staff members have to take daily lateral flow tests to enter training grounds in order to minimise the risk of an outbreak. This news comes after the postponement of Tottenham v Brighton and Hove Albion and Brentford v Manchester United in the Premier League.
Pandemic still not over
The new changes could be more tedious for us, but at the end of the day, they are done to ensure our safety. The Omicron variant cannot get overlooked as it has already shown its effect in multiple countries. The same can be said for the UK, resulting in the new guidelines being implemented.
We would need to be cautious moving forward to cope with the new situation. If things do get worse, we might see a return to how it was earlier last year. Matches may have to be played in a closed stadium if that is the case.
It would be tough to see a return to the earlier rules but they would be initiated for the right reason if it comes to that. Antonio Conte and his side are set to face Leicester City on Thursday in the league, and there are doubts on whether the match will be played.

If the game does take place, supporters can get involved after providing the required proof when entering the stadium. It is recommended that the rules are followed for the benefit of ourselves as well as others.
The matter of choice when it comes to getting a vaccination is a complicated argument considering our actions have a direct effect on the health of others. If we are to truly overcome this pandemic, there must be a joint effort from all of us.
