Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte targets Eintracht Frankfurt star Filip Kostic
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t Football.London), Antonio Conte has asked the Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star, Filip Kostic.
Filip Kostic has played a decisive role for the German side in the current campaign. The 29-year-old has already bagged three goals and nine assists in 21 appearances across all competitions. The Serbian has been synonyms with Die Adler’s recent success and his displays have not gone unnoticed at the N-17..
It is believed that Conte has asked the Spurs hierarchy to lure the Serbian midfielder to White Hart Lane. The midfield is one area that Tottenham needs to address in the coming windows.
Conte has mostly played with a 3-4-3 formation with two central midfielders and two fullbacks in the wide ranges. However, Spurs fullbacks haven’t been very productive when it comes to making goal contributing.
Kostic has to be the potential to be a more viable alternative on the left flank. The Serbian midfielder could form a successful partnership with Heung-min Son. The South Korean has been top-notch and scored some exceptional goals due to individual brilliance. However, with a solid presence of a left-winger, he would be able to go deeper in the enemy box.
Players like Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombélé has been massively disappointing in the current campaign. Therefore it wouldn’t be a surprise to see some outgoings in the January transfer window. However, Spurs would require reinforcements after such sellings.
Conte recently revealed that there could be another Covid-19 surge in the squad, which could affect the availability of key players. Thus, Kostic coming into the team would be a massive advantage for Conte.
