Rift between Antonio Conte and Tottenham Hotspur chief regarding Weston McKennie and Dejan Kulusevski
According to Juve news website ilbianconero.com (h/t The Sun), Antonio Conte wants Tottenham Hotspur to sign Weston McKennie but, Fabio Paratici prefers Dejan Kulusevski.
Tottenham Hotspur have struggled with Covid-19 complications this season, which has sidelines, several players. On top of that, there has been some injury blows this season which put Antonio Conte on the backfoot. With off-form players like Tanguy Ndombélé and Dele Alli, Spurs inevitably require reinforcements in the winter transfer window.
Spurs have been linked with several Juventus stars lately. Fabio Paratici being the new sporting director of the North London club, it’s natural that the Italian have a vast knowledge about the players on his previous team.
However, Antonio Conte isn’t unfamiliar with the Serie A players either. The Italian manager spent two seasons with Inter Milan, where he must have spent several hours assessing the players of bitter rivals, Juventus.
It seems the vast understanding of Tottenham heavyweights has created a disagreement. Conte is believed to be interested in signing Old lady midfielder McKennie, whereas Fabio Paratici believes Kulusevski would be a better reinforcement for the North London side.
Tottenham have had Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg and Oliver Skipp step up in this campaign since Conte took over. Furthermore, Harry Winks, Giovani Lo Celso, and Ryan Sessegnon propose a quality backing.
However, the same can’t be said about the forward department. Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura and Harry Kane have been the regular starter in Conte’s 3-4-3 formation. But there isn’t much quality backup available. Youngster Steven Bergwijn still needs some grooming before he can be trusted.
Therefore, a forward reinforcement looks like the ideal choice between midfielder and striker.

However, Kulusevski hasn’t provided consistent performance throughout the campaign and has a poor goalscoring start to the season. Therefore, Tottenham needs to be totally confident to splash £29.5m on an out favour star.
However, it has to be the manager to take the final decision because only he would have the ability to decide who plays and who doesn’t in his team.
