Transfer News: Newcastle United could be offered Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli amidst Everton interest
According to ChronicleLive, Newcastle United could have the opportunity to get the services of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli amidst interest from Everton. He has failed to make use of the chances that were given by Antonio Conte and could be moved out this month.
Conte is keen on signing a right wing-back and a striker in the January transfer window, so Tottenham are looking to free up the squad to meet his demands. Alli is a part of the list that contains players who could leave out on a straight-up loan or a loan with a permanent transfer in the cards.
Nick Hammond, who has close links with the agency CAA Base, could pave the way for Newcastle, who is set to become one of the clubs that could be given a chance to sign the 25-year-old. Hammond also has ties with the Toons and helped them to facilitate their two signings this month- Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood.
The Toffees are also interested in getting the signature of the Englishman, but they may have to wait until the final ten days of the transfer window to make their move. That is because Spurs have their attention diverted on other targets for now as they play a waiting game to put pressure on the other party.
Time’s up for Alli?
The Tottenham midfielder is another one of those underperforming stars who had enough time to find their mojo back. We cannot wait for too long and hope that they can regain their old form sometime in the future.
Other than some sparks here and there, we have never seen the England international show any signs of returning to his old self from the days under Mauricio Pochettino. We cannot keep thinking about the past as that has caused us to decline over the years when we should have built on what we achieved under Pochettino.
Since the Merseyside club has already shown an interest, we have an opportunity to get rid of the Spurs ace this month. Should the Magpies enter the mix in the coming days, it would be a big boost considering their winter dealings and the recent ownership takeover.

However, the ten days mark does pose a concern as it may not provide us with adequate time for finding a suitable replacement. Tanguy Ndombele could also move out in the winter market, which could put us in a stage where there are not enough options in midfield.
Even though the formation we play in right now only utilises two midfielders, we do need sufficient depth to safeguard against injuries, suspension or Covid cases. Oliver Skipp, Giovani Lo Celso, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Winks do not provide enough depth, which adds to the reasons why an alternative target should be signed. So the club should be wary of all the possibilities and make an appropriate decision in the coming days.
