Tottenham Hotspur exit on the radar as Tanguy Ndombele sent to individual training amidst Napoli interest
According to Football.London (h/t ESPN), Tanguy Ndombele moves closer to leaving Tottenham Hotspur after he got sent out to individual training amidst interest from Napoli. He has seen himself get left out of the matchday squad in the previous Carabao Cup semi-final fixture against Chelsea.
Antonio Conte was the one who demanded Ndombele train on his own following the latter’s controversial reaction during the FA Cup tie against Morecambe. Tottenham won the game 3-1, but they were trailing when he was substituted for Oliver Skipp. He was jeered off the ground after he walked slowly despite his team losing at that point in the match.
The Serie A club has been linked with a move for the 25-year-old, but it remains to be seen if he could end up leaving in the January transfer window. Conte’s words from a press conference on Friday further indicate how dire the situation is for the central midfielder. He said:
“In this moment Tanguy Ndombele is a Tottenham player. For this reason, you have to consider him a Tottenham player.”
Ndombele to leave Spurs?
It could truly be the end for the Frenchman at N17, even if we have not received any confirmation on the subject. But once you join the dots- the boss’ words and his individual training- we can get an idea of what is to come.
It is unfortunate that it has come to this, but we cannot waste more time hoping to see a turnaround in his attitude and performance. The Spurs star has received enough chances to make a case for himself, but he has failed to take advantage of the opportunities that came his way.
There were moments under the Italian manager where the France international had shown some flashes of brilliance, like the one game against Liverpool, but he never built on them. As such, we have to look at life past him and move on even if we would endure a financial loss because of a departure.
The £53.8million transfer fee excluding add-ons that we paid for the France international to Lyon now seems like a big waste. He has completely let himself down with the way he has conducted himself since coming to N17- be it under any manager.

Any sizable offer for him and the club would be wise to accept it. We have enough depth in midfield to go on without him this season. Even if we didn’t, the majority of the fans would have still been okay with a departure if the money was right.
Let’s hope that Fabio Paratici can reach a deal where we are compensated fairly for the ex-Lyon man. Signing a replacement in the future, if Ndombele leaves, would also be something that would please the fans. With a little over two weeks remaining in the January window, it remains to be seen what happens with the 25-year-old midfielder.
