Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur are not interested in bringing back Christian Eriksen
According to Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur are not keen on signing free agent Christian Eriksen who was recently released by Inter Milan.
Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest while playing For Denmark against Finland at EURO 2020. The medical professionals and his teammates’ efforts did manage to save the life of the former Tottenham star, but an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) device had to be fitted in his heart.
Eriksen made his full recovery last month. However, the regulations in Italy prevent any player with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) from playing in a professional match. Therefore, he couldn’t appear in any further games for Inter Milan and has since departed the club on mutually agreeable terms.
The 29-year-old isn’t interested in ending his football career and wants to make his return to the field. While searching for a new team, the 29-year-old midfielder is training with FC Chiasso, a third-tier club in Italy.
Recently news emerged that Eriksen is set to make a return in the Premier League with several clubs interested. The player is not motivated by money and is currently in the prime of his career. While his health does pose an issue, he could be worth his weight in gold if used right.
However, it is believed that Tottenham Hotspur is not the team currently in the race to secure his signature. Spurs currently don’t have enough depth in the midfield. The likes of Dele Alli, Tanguy Ndombélé make up the numbers but have failed to make themselves count as reliable options.
The need could get even more significant if our board decides to offload the out-of-favour French star who has attracted a lot of criticism recently for his actions. With a number of our games postponed, Tottenham are looking at a potentially busy second half to the season. Squad depth will be key as we look to negotiate the tricky fixture list.

Therefore, the arrival of Eriksen could have helped us in tackling the situation. The Danish star was one of the key players under Antonio Conte at Inter, and the manager understands how to get the best out of the player. More so, he is already familiar with Spurs having served us with distinction for close to seven years.
However, after a lengthy break from football, it’s still unclear how his body would react to the pressure from the hectic Premier League schedule. Therefore, signing him would be akin to taking a bet, and we certainly aren’t in the position to take such chances. With the stance of our board, it seems a homecoming doesn’t appear to be on the cards for Eriksen.
