According to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur on Twitter (h/t ESPN), Tottenham Hotspur are planning to make an offer to Club Brugge star Charles De Ketelaere in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old came through the Belgian side’s academy and has firmly established himself as a first-team regular. With 13 goals and eight assists in 31 appearances across all competitions this season, it is evident that De Ketelaere is making a massive difference for his hometown club.

His performances have not been lost on Europe’s elite and Tottenham are now plotting to make a move for him in the summer. He will certainly be an exciting signing should Fabio Paratici be able to pull it off.

Charles De Ketelaere is on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur.

As things stand, Tottenham are extremely dependent on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min for goals. The former is the club’s lone recognized senior striker and it is imperative that we bring in cover.

The Three Lions skipper was courted by Manchester City last summer and has failed to showcase his usual level at the club level this season. The lack of alternatives has certainly hurt Tottenham in several games so far.

Although Conte has tried out the likes of Dele Alli and Bryan Gil upfront, the duo cannot hold a candle to Kane’s prowess. In fact, the striker had to be brought off the bench after our frontline failed to deliver in the FA Cup clash against Morecambe.

Charles De Ketelaere has already made 4 appearances with the national team.

De Ketelaere is establishing himself as an excellent all-rounded attacker and Tottenham will do well to sign him before he can strike it big. The 20-year-old can also play in attacking midfield and this should aid Spurs should they need him to drop deep to collect the ball.

The youngster’s versatility combined with his obvious potential makes him a top prospect worth pursuing. Any investment in him would most likely have enormous returns for us in the long term. De Ketelaere already has four caps for the Belgian national team, a testament to the player’s ability given the country’s talent pool.

As long as De Ketelaere continues to impress, there is always the risk that he will attract attention from other top sides. Given the positions that need strengthening, it is not in Tottenham’s best interests to get into a bidding war.

Paratici and co will be best advised to make a move for the young Belgian and work out a contract as soon as possible. It could also be in our best interests to reach an agreement in January regarding a summer move. Just how we approach it remains to be seen.
