Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli tells friends that he is joining Newcastle United
According to Football Insider (h/t Mirror), Out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli has already communicated his interest in joining Newcastle United with his close friends.
The English midfielder’s performances have significantly dropped off recently and he looks a pale shadow of the player he once promised to be. With only two goals and one assist in 18 appearances across all competitions, his fortunes do not appear to be changing for the better anytime soon.
Antonio Conte has been relatively straightforward with his treatment of the 25-year-old. The Italian handed him some significant opportunities, one of them was against Liverpool in a crunch clash last month. However, the attacking player’s poor display soon saw him fall down the pecking order.
Alli’s poor run of form has also seen him fall down the pecking order at the international level. With the FIFA World Cup coming p later this year, he will need to turn around his fortunes fast.
A fresh start elsewhere could aid the midfielder in resurrecting his career and Newcastle United could offer him just that. The Magpies have shown an interest in Alli and could offer him the stage to rediscover his best.
It is believed that Alli already had a conversation regarding the transfer with former teammate Kieran Trippier who recently joined the Magpies. By the looks of it, the Spurs star appears to be convinced about the project at St James Park and has already told his close friends that he is open to making the transfer.
The player has shown little to suggest that he can turn around his fortunes at Tottenham. A parting of the ways would be the best for all parties involved.
It is believed that the Tottenham Board is open to accepting any loan or permanent transfer for the 25-year-old star. Given the lack of faith put in the player by consecutive Spurs managers, a permanent solution would be ideal for us moving forward.

Newcastle United have the financial backing to make a considerable offer for Alli following the Saudi Takeover. The Magpies are desperate for incoming to aid in their battle against relegation and Spurs should leverage that to their benefit.
While selling Alli will certainly leave us short of options, he has done little to warrant a regular starting spot. More so with only the Premier League and the FA Cup left for us to compete in, losing one player, that too a non-performing one is unlikely to derail our season.
