Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur offer loan deal to Juventus for signing midfielder Dejan Kulusevski
As per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in bringing Juventus star Dejan Kulusevski to North London this month and have offered the Italian club a loan deal with a buy option clause included.
Spurs manager Antonio Conte is eyeing reinforcements for his squad in the January transfer window, as he seeks to beef up his squad and work with players that he believes can help fire the side to a strong finish at the end of the season.
Although Tottenham have made the offer to Juventus, the Serie A side has not yet accepted the deal as they want Spurs to make the buy option in the proposed loan deal a mandatory clause. The Italian giants want Spurs to offer a price of around €40m at the end of the loan deal, so Kulusevski can move to England next season.
Spurs have currently proposed a temporary deal to bring the Swede to North London, with a buy option clause that will become mandatory only if certain conditions are met. Furthermore, their valuation for the Juve star is only €30m, which falls short of the asking price Juventus have demanded.
Time running out for Spurs
With only a few days left before the winter transfer window shuts, Spurs will need to accelerate their efforts to sign Kulusevski and reach an understanding with Juventus as soon as possible. The club is yet to make a signing this month despite Conte requiring fresh faces- something made evident by our performances in the past few weeks.
Despite this difference in opinion between Spurs and Juve, Romano claims that talks are still ongoing for the proposed loan deal for Kulusevski. The English side currently only want a short term six month loan and will assess the Sweden international’s time at N17 before making a decision on a permanent transfer in the summer.
As we approach the end of the January transfer window, it wouldn’t be unnatural for Spurs fans to be desperate for signings after going the whole month without managing to bring in anyone new. The deal to bring Kulusevski looks close, but with only a few days to go, Conte will be hoping that the club manage to get this over the line before Monday’s deadline.
The North London outfit failed in their efforts to sign previous targets Adama Traore and Luis Diaz, with both players opting to move elsewhere after Spurs had identified them as major transfer targets this month and pursued their signatures.

If Spurs do manage to secure Kulusevski’s services before transfer deadline day, then Conte will have gained a versatile attacker who can play anywhere across the frontline. This augurs well for the Italian boss, as Spurs look short of creativity up front at the moment and require someone who can provide a spark out wide on the flanks.
With talks still ongoing, Conte will rely on Spurs’ football director Fabio Paratici to work his magic and help bring Kulusevski to the club. While the ‘option’, rather than an obligation to buy seems like the safest option- giving the club enough time to assess whether they should splash the cash on the player-, we may not be left with a lot of options if we really want to bring in the ex-Parma man to the club before February.
