Senior Tottenham Hotspur players think Antonio Conte should use Joe Rodon more often
According to Football.London, Some of the senior Tottenham Hotspur players are at odds with Antonio Conte regarding the treatment of Joe Rodon. The latter has found it difficult to prove his worth to the manager despite the options in the centre-back position taking a hit due to injuries at times.
The only time Rodon had featured in recent games under Conte was in the FA Cup matches. He played the full ninety minutes against Morecambe as Spurs won 3-1 in the third round. The Welshman was also brought on for the final moments against Brighton and Hove Albion in the fourth round of the cup competition.
Tottenham were the victors with a similar scoreline, but the 24-year-old could not get more chances following those appearances. He was left on the bench in the recent matches where they had gone on a losing streak in the Premier League.
As such, some of the senior players have been pushing to convince the Italian about using the central defender more often in the future. They believe Rodon could be very crucial with his versatility to play anywhere in the three at the back system.
Would Conte change his stance?
Recently, the 52-year-old Italian was asked a question regarding the Spurs outcast and whether his decision not to depend on the centre-back was wrong or not. The boss gave an interesting answer as he expressed that he might have made a “mistake” surrounding the defender.
However, the Spurs coach defended his stance by expressing that he intended to field the best players available, indicating that the Welsh international may not be good enough. It is puzzling to see how the central defender has not been depended on even though he has hardly put a foot wrong for us.
Moreover, the former Swansea City man has been excellent for his country even when he has been sidelined for long periods at the club level. Hence, one may wonder why the managers are not selecting him or even giving him a chance to make a case for himself.

It remains to be seen whether the former Inter Milan boss would give the Tottenham star a chance or not in the next few fixtures. Then again, with Eric Dier potentially close to returning to being in contention, we may hardly see him again in the future.
The Tottenham manager also continues to choose Davinson Sanchez and Ben Davies even when they have had lapses at times recently. Sanchez keeps making mistakes here and there, whereas Davies was at fault to an extent in the loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers. But, we have not seen any signs yet that the boss would try to integrate the outcast moving forward.
