Transfer News: Arsenal, Barcelona propose contract offers to Tottenham Hotspur target Franck Kessie
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano and the Spanish outlet Sport [Print Edition] via Daily Cannon (h/t Football.London), Arsenal and Barcelona have proposed contract offers to sign Tottenham Hotspur target Franck Kessie in the summer transfer window. He is expected to leave AC Milan at the end of this season after spending five years with them.
Kessie will see his current deal expire next summer, which has prompted several foreign clubs to engage in talks over a pre-contract agreement with him. Many sides have lined up to secure his services to add a man of his quality to their squads. The Gunners are on the same boat, having put an offer on the table.
Barca, on the other hand, have tabled a five-year deal, which would earn the Ivorian around €6.5million net per season as a guaranteed salary. They are looking to ramp up their pressure to add him to the squad for the next season. The 25-year-old is tempted by the Spanish side’s offer, which could potentially deal a blow to Tottenham.
More concerns!
These updates would undoubtedly give massive headaches to us as there is the risk of losing out on another one of our desired targets. We failed to sign Adama Traore and Luis Diaz in the January transfer window, which has certainly affected us considering the lack of top-notch quality attackers in the team- especially on our bench.
Spurs must make sure that Kessie would not be another one of them since we cannot afford to lose out on midfield targets. Our options in midfield are very thin due to the departures of Dele Alli, Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele in January. While the latter duo left out on loan, their futures are still uncertain.
We did bring in Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus, but with only Oliver Skipp, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Winks being the other choices, we are left to rue in this case. We were handed a reality check by the recent injuries to Bentancur and Skipp, and it can be argued that we can upgrade on both the English players in question.
Kessie can add much-needed steel in our midfield, raising quality and depth in the centre of the park at the same time. A sturdy presence on the defensive side of things, the Ivory Coast international is no slouch in possession as well.

Fabio Paratici must ensure that Antonio Conte is backed next summer by preventing past mistakes. Conte needs support just as he received at his previous clubs to bring in sporting success. If the ex-Inter man wants a former rival from across the Milanese footballing border in Kessie, the player must have seriously left a mark on him during their time in Italy.
