Antonio Conte approves Tottenham Hotspur to sign Fenerbahce defender Kim Min-jae
According to the Turkish outlet Fanatik (h/t Football.London), Antonio Conte has given his approval for Tottenham Hotspur to secure the services of Fenerbahce defender Kim Min-jae. The centre-back has enjoyed quite a breakout season, having moved to Europe only at the start of this season.
Tottenham have already expressed their interest in signing Min-jae in the summer transfer window. They have recently scouted him against Galatasaray and were left quite impressed by the central defender’s defensive prowess. Conte has now agreed to finalise a move for him at the end of this term.
However, Spurs will face competition from Everton, who are tracking the South Korean’s situation at this moment. It is also stated that he would only cost £19million in transfer fees due to the release clause in his current contract.
Summer signing?
Given our performances this season, it is clear that we could use another centre-back on the roster. Conte casting aside players like Joe Rodon and Davinson Sanchez adds further credibility to the point.
Japhet Tanganga is currently out injured for the remainder of this season, but he could also be replaced with a better signing. While Ben Davies has fared well as a left-sided centre-back, he is playing in a makeshift role which also calls for the need for defensive reinforcements.
Hence, bringing Min-jae would be a great choice from our side, considering how he has impressed in Turkey this term. The price quoted is also decent given the Asian star’s potential. It could very well prove to be a shrewd signing by the North Londoners.
That being said, we still need to be wary of the interest from Everton even if they are in dire straits at the moment. However, we potentially have the upper hand should the Toffees get relegated this season.

What’s more, we could perhaps use Son Heung-Min to give a positive recommendation to his Asian compatriot regarding a potential move to N17. That could possibly lend us another edge over Frank Lampard’s side in this pursuit.
Now that Conte has given his approval and our scouts have been impressed by Min-jae, there is no reason to dwell on this matter moving forward. A move must be completed at the earliest so that we can focus our attention on other transfer dealings.
