Tottenham Hotspur face transfer battle with Leeds United for Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott
According to the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle Premier League rivals Leeds United in the upcoming summer transfer window for the signature of Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott.
The teenager is enjoying a breakthrough season in the Championship, making regular appearances for City and also getting on the scoresheet a couple of times. Although the Robins are not flying high this season, Scott has been a shining light for them.
Known to be a creative midfielder who can also play the No. 10 role, the 18-year-old has also shown that he can be versatile on the pitch – the starlet has been playing wing-back recently, putting in the hard work to help out his team wherever needed.
His performances this season have seen some PL clubs take note of him, with Tottenham named to be one of the sides who have registered an interest in the youngster. However, they are likely to face competition for the player from Leeds in the summer.
Scott scouted by Spurs and Leeds
Both Spurs and Leeds sent scouts to watch Scott in action on Good Friday, as Bristol beat Stoke 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Jay Dasilva. They got to see Scott play the entire ninety minutes of the match, playing as a right wing-back, running up and down the flanks.
With interest in the player from top sides in the country, and given the fact that he is under contract until 2025, the Robins may be open to selling him for £10m, as they struggle to comply with EFL profit and sustainability rules.
The upcoming transfer window in the summer will be huge for the Lilywhites, who will be looking forward to manager Antonio Conte taking charge of the side for his first full season with the club since joining late last year.
Conte is regarded to be a serial winner, having racked up trophies at all his previous clubs. Therefore, the expectation is that he continues to work his magic at Tottenham as well, in order to help them break their long-standing trophy drought.

The north London side will need to back him in the summer with the kind of players he requires in order to turn us into world-beaters. Although it is not known if Scott is someone that the Italian manager has recommended to the club, the starlet could still be added to the squad as a potential player for the future.
Our immediate aim, however, is to sign experienced stars who are prepared to deliver a trophy as soon as possible, and the Bristol City man does not quite fit the bill. However, he could still be a star we could develop for the coming years, and it may be better to snap him up for ourselves rather than lose him to a PL rival.
