Manchester City star Raheem Sterling prefers moving to Tottenham Hotspur over Arsenal
According to the transfer guru, Ben Jacobs on The Gooner Talk YouTube channel (h/t Football.London), Manchester City star Raheem Sterling prefers to move to Tottenham Hotspur instead of joining Arsenal in a potential transfer. That could be deemed as a message to Spurs to make their approach should the opportunity present itself.
Sterling will see his current contract with Man City expire at the end of the next season. That has put his future at Etihad Stadium in uncertain waters, which has further been heightened by the claims that are linking him with a departure in the future. Tottenham and the Gunners have been touted as potential destinations for the winger.
Jacobs has now revealed that the Englishman would much rather join Antonio Conte’s side instead of moving to The Emirates Stadium. That could be a boost for Spurs, although it is still unknown whether they are interested in securing his services or not moving forward.
Do Spurs need Sterling?
The 27-year-old has once again been in fine form this season, scoring 16 goals and assisting seven times in 45 matches across all competitions. But for some reason, the forward never seems to earn the praises that he deserves, which was the case following his impressive Euro campaign as well last summer.
It is always good to know that one of the best attackers in the league is willing to join our team, but we are still in the dark whether Conte wants him or not if an opportunity arrives at the door. Perhaps, we should have a look and enquire about the situation to assess the matter.
After all, Sterling is a very versatile forward who can play in several positions in attack without a drop in his quality. Pep Guardiola has even used him as a striker, which could be helpful for us since Harry Kane does not have any backup options in the squad right now.
More importantly, Sterling could prove to be a valuable addition if Steven Bergwijn leaves N17 this summer. Bergwijn has already opened the door for an exit due to lack of game time, which means that we may need to replace him in case of a departure.

There is also the situation of Lucas Moura that must be kept in check as he has seen his minutes reduce considerably after Dejan Kulusevski’s signing. One could question whether Moura is happy to sit back in this new role and whether he would push for a move in the future.
Sterling can be that man to take over the reins if spots can be freed up, and a move is a possibility indeed, especially when he prefers to move to the white side of North London. That being said, it is still early days, so let’s keep an eye out for further developments regarding this subject.
