Tottenham Hotspur plan Everton transfer raid for Richarlison, Anthony Gordon and Ben Godfrey
According to The Telegraph (Subscription Required), Tottenham Hotspur are plotting to raid Everton to prise away Richarlison, Anthony Gordon and Ben Godfrey in the summer transfer window. The Merseyside club is engaged in a relegation fight right now, which will determine their future after this season.
Tottenham are expected to bring in fresh blood at the end of this term to back Antonio Conte moving forward. They are closely tracking the Toffees’ progress in the relegation battle at this moment due to their interest in three Everton players. Richarlison, Gordon and Godfrey form the trio Spurs are looking to target this summer.
Richarlison is believed to attract attention from elsewhere as well, which does give the North Londoners something to worry about. As for Frank Lampard’s side, dropping to the Championship would force their hands to take drastic measures to compensate for the financial blow. Perhaps, that could pave the way for a Tottenham raid in summer.
Good move for Spurs?
The Liverpool-based club’s dire financial situation has been well-documented for quite a while, which further boosts our interest. They will be forced into an even worse situation if they get relegated to the second division after the current campaign.
Even if Lampard’s team have slowly climbed up the table, they are far from safety even at this stage. As such, it is understandable why Conte’s side is keeping an eye out for the relegation dogfight and seeing how Everton’s situation will turn out to be in the coming months.
The likes of Richarlison, Godfrey and Gordon would greatly bolster our ranks without a massive hit in finances. After all, we could force the Toffees to meet our demands if they are forced to manage their books following relegation.
We have lacked a proper backup option for Harry Kane for quite a while, and the issue must be addressed this summer itself. Richarlison would be a solid option, with the Brazilian also being able to play on both wings if necessary. The 25-year-old’s versatility would offer Conte more freedom to work with when it comes to his formations.
Godfrey, meanwhile, has often stood out in a struggling Toffees side, and he could do quite well in a more stable system. Being just 24, the Englishman has a lot of years in football still ahead of him and could play on the right side of a back-three system given he has the experience of playing as a right-back too.
We have already seen Conte play Ben Davies as a left-sided centre-back, with the Welshman earlier playing as a left-back for Spurs, Wales, and Swansea City.

Finally, Gordon is a talented attacking prospect who is equally able enough to play on both wings. The 21-year-old has garnered enough Premier League experience at such a young age, making him an attractive signing indeed. With Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura’s future potentially being up in the air, the U21 England international could be used to replace them if needed.
