Paulo Dybala rejected a transfer approach from Tottenham Hotspur for a summer move
According to the Spanish outlet AS (h/t The Sun), Paulo Dybala has rejected an approach from Tottenham Hotspur to sign him on a potential move in the summer transfer window. He is expected to leave Juventus at the end of this season, which has seen major clubs express their interest in his services.
Dybala is available on a free transfer after the current season, and a host of interested parties have already entered the race to sign him. Tottenham are among them, but the attacker’s “own environment” has ruled out the possibility of joining them this summer. That would be a blow for them, as losing out on a world-class player is always a difficult pill to swallow.
Manchester United, Arsenal, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and AS Roma are plotting to get their hands on the Argentinian. Spurs would be delighted to at least know that his preference is to remain in Italy as that would prevent their direct rivals from bolstering their squad.
Spurs must look elsewhere
If this update is believed to be true, then it would be best if Antonio Conte’s side divert their attention to other targets moving forward. After all, it would be a waste of effort and time to keep chasing after the 28-year-old when his camp has conveyed their intentions regarding a proposed move to N17.
Securing the Serie A forward’s signature for free would undoubtedly have been a massive boost to our squad’s quality. A dependable option like Dybala would have done wonders for Conte, especially as he looks to build a strong project to mount a title challenge in the future.
However, that is not the case, and the North London side cannot dwell for too long on the blow they have received. A shortlist comprising ideal alternatives must be prepared as our forward areas could use some reinforcements, with Champions League football being a real possibility right now.
Dybala’s refusal is a blow indeed, but what would have made it worse if he had joined one of our direct rivals like the Gunners or Man United after this term. Fortunately, that seems not to be the case as he is looking to stay in Italy based on this latest information.

Furthermore, transfer journalist Nicolo Schira on Twitter (h/t The Sun) has revealed that the South American is edging closer to joining Inter at the end of this campaign. That would be a threat piece of news for those at Tottenham, as the chances of a turnaround are getting smaller by the minute.
The fans would hope to see that they would not lose out on more targets, as was the case in the January transfer window. Failure to sign Luis Diaz and Adama Traore was well-documented back then, but the supporters remain optimistic that Fabio Paratici could prevent such scenarios this summer.
