Leeds United are expected to reject Arsenal’s bid for Raphinha amidst Tottenham Hotspur interest
According to Leeds Live, Leeds United are prepared to reject Arsenal’s bid for Raphinha, who is also on the shortlist of Tottenham Hotspur. Leeds believes the Gunners’ offer is far below their valuation and is thus planning to reject it.
The Brazilian midfielder has been on the shortlist of several clubs, including Barcelona, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea. Arsenal made an offer for the Brazilian on Tuesday night and Leeds rejected that bid.
Raphinha moved to Elland Road from Rennais in 2020 and quickly became a fan favourite and a target to acquire for different clubs. He played a crucial part last season to help Leeds stave off relegation with his last day heroics against Brentford.
Barcelona is his preferred move, but given the club’s economic situation and rivals Arsenal getting their bid rejected, Tottenham should consider a move for him if they wish to acquire his signature.
Spurs to win a coup?
The 25-year-old winger would be an excellent signing for Antonio Conte. Should he arrive, newly signed winger Ivan Perisic can play further upfield and he could also be the replacement for Steven Bergwijn, with the Dutchman tipped to leave Spurs this summer.
Also, another winger, Lucas Moura’s future is uncertain as he has been linked to a move to Everton. His signing would help kill two birds with one stone. Conte has already made three signings in Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Fraser Forster.
His arrival would also mean that there could potentially be an increase in the competition among the squad players to start the game. His proven quality in the Premier League just adds brownie points to his resume.
